PARC PARADISIO

COMPETITION FOR PAVILLION IN PARC PARADISIO                            1996

The pavilion is to form an integrated part of ‘Parc Paradiso’, located in the magnificent domain of Cambron. The beauty of the domain with its gardens ,its remains of a Cisteciëncer-abbey, and the more than 2500 extravagant birds who inbihit it, make it the most desired entourage for a contemporary ‘follie’.

As a counterwieght to the remains of the tower, that form a closed volum, the intent was to create an open tower containing an open structure providing all the required qualities and to form an adequate symbol of the parc, providing the necesary protection of a regular pavilion.

The skeleton is clearly a reflection to that of a bird.
-Overlapping shields create a climatic roof, but preserves the desired ‘openess’ of the structure.
-The sitting area is protected of wind and weather by digging it in the ground.
-The tower acts as an excellent panoramapoint for the surrounding landscapes and as a platform from where demonstrations with birds can easily be held.
