HOUSE EXTENSION, KOEKELBERG

Client: Van Dycke - De Paepe
Year: 2005
Project: A house in-the-row with an old addition in the back needed to be restyled.
The existing additions were demolished in order to make place for a larger extension on the ground floor.
A first design foresaw a transparent joint between the new addition and the main volume of the existing house, providing the middle living-rooms with sufficient daylight, while dining- and kitchen area located towards the garden.
In the final design, the kitchen was shifted towards the street-side, the dining area located in the middle room, and the living area mainly in the new addition, giving it an equally high height and an almost entire glass façade, providing for extensive daylight.
The addition on the 1st floor contains a new bedroom, while the bathroom is created in the inner room on 1st floor.
