Design and construction of a Christmas shed
For many years, the scouts group (L1512G) is responsible for the design and building of the Christmas-shed at the church in Bolderberg, their home-parish in Heusden-Zolder. This Christmas-shed is also a name card for the creativity of this scouts group. As an architect, it is a challenge to give a creative answer to something as conservative as a “Christmas-shed”, giving the constraints of material (wooden poles of length 2m, lm, 4m and lots of rope), limited manpower and time. As a member of the scouting group, I have been providing the design for some years. Each time, the Christmas-shed is designed as a dynamic play of poles, with a connotation to the formal “stereotypes” of Christmas. A model is each time used as design- and execution process. The designs are each a variation on this theme. |
